Illinois Leader is no more

Illinois Leader Terminated

It's now apparent that Dan Proft has pulled the plug on the once venerated Illinois conservative news source, IllinoisLeader.com.

Apprently the advertising spots on the Leader were not making up for all the operating costs and all the changeover in staff had left the leader in disarray. (Not to mention all the liberals infesting the Leader message boards)

On the bright side, Krystle Russin's own ReaganReview.com still exists for conservative news and debate on Illinois politics.

With the Illinois Leader gone, I will be posting blog updates on ICRC far more often. I encourage the rest of you to do the same. The death of the Leader within a single state election cycle (2002-2006) could give us some costly lessons on how to ensure the Illinois Center Right Coalition is spared a simular fate. Stay focused, stay on message, avoid Democrat/liberal inflitration, and don't back down from a fight.

I wonder if the ICRC could be resurrected at an original date, if a group of conservatives were to buy up the domain name and try to re-establish the Leader closer to it's original inception after the 2002 primary? The new version would be advertisement free and have liberal-less message boards locked down, and maybe we could even bring back some of the original lineup of columnists (Zahm, Russin, etc.) for the weekly updates?
